The Landmark
The Building’s Legacy
The BC Golf House is housed in a stunning Tudor-style building that originally served as the clubhouse for the University Golf Club in 1930. This historic structure was saved from demolition and underwent a meticulous restoration where it was "gutted out" and "put back together" with single-minded determination. Today, it stands as a premier example of authentic restoration, preserved to its original 1930 glory to serve as the heart of British Columbia's golfing heritage.
Museum Galleries & Artifacts
A Museum of Extraordinary Rarities
Inside the Golf House, visitors can explore a vast collection of over 3,000 historical items that chronicle the evolution of the sport. The galleries feature rare masterpieces such as 18th-century "long-nose" wooden-shafted clubs and original "featherie" balls used in the earliest days of golf. Beyond equipment, the house displays unique curiosities like padded horse shoes designed for 19th-century mowers, providing an immersive experience into the ancient and honorable heritage of the game.
The Research Facility
Canada’s Premier Golf Reference Library
One of the most significant features of the Golf House is its reference library, recognized as the largest of its kind in Canada. It houses over 6,000 volumes and extensive archival records, providing a vital resource for researchers and historians. From historic photographs to detailed records of Hall of Fame inductees, the library serves as a functioning facility that preserves the "spirit of the game" both provincially and internationally.
